Cookie policy
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser when you visit it. It is used to remember information about your visit, such as preferences or technical data that allow the page to work properly.
Cookies we use
We use two kinds of cookies: technical cookies, needed for the site to work and stay protected, and analytics cookies (Google Analytics), which are only switched on if you accept them in the cookie notice. We do not use advertising cookies, social media pixels or profiling tools.
Analytics cookies (only with your consent)
If you accept, we load Google Analytics 4 through Google Tag Manager, services provided by Google Ireland Limited. It tells us, in aggregate, how many people visit the site, which pages they read and where they come from. We do not use it for advertising or to identify you.
Cookies it sets: _ga (distinguishes visitors, lasts 2 years) and _ga_<ID> (keeps session state, lasts 2 years). Google may process data outside the European Economic Area under the safeguards of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. More information in Google’s privacy policy.
If you reject them, neither Google Analytics nor Google Tag Manager is loaded. Your choice is stored in your browser for 12 months and you can change it at any time: .
Technical cookies (strictly necessary)
Our infrastructure and security provider, Cloudflare, may set technical cookies needed to protect the site and ensure it works properly (for example, to tell legitimate traffic from automated attacks). These cookies do not collect personal information for commercial purposes and are exempt from the consent requirement under current regulations. You can find more information in Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Third-party cookies
Subscription to the “IKIGAIER Letters” newsletter is handled through Substack. When you click to subscribe, you are redirected to a Substack domain, which may set its own cookies under its own responsibility. These cookies are governed by its own policy, which you can read at substack.com/cookies.
How to manage or disable cookies
You can set your browser to accept, reject or delete cookies at any time. Here are the help links for the most common browsers:
Google Chrome
Mozilla Firefox
Safari
Microsoft Edge
Please note that if you disable technical cookies, some features of the site may not work properly.
